When getting Christmas lights for trees, outdoor conditions are typically harsher than the conditions indoors, especially during winter and summer. So, if you use indoor Christmas lights outdoors, the lights will most likely go bad very quickly. The best types of lights for outdoor tree decorations are outdoor lights. They are typically sturdier and more durable than indoor lights, so they can withstand the harshness outside. That being said, the following are some of the best outdoor Christmas lights for trees.
#1. – Meteor Shower Lights
The Kwaiffeo Lights take the top spot in our review, all thanks to their durability and aesthetics. It creates a magical decoration on trees, something like a meteor shower. The fact that its bulbs emit cool white light makes the sight even better.
With 192 bulbs on 8 tubes, you can create an all-around show when you decorate your tree. But if this is not enough for you, the lights are readily extendable up to 3-4 strings.
While it has an IP65 rating, you should avoid letting this come in direct contact with water. It is still an electronic product, so water can damage it. However, in the typical moist atmosphere outdoors, it will do just fine.
This product is pretty good, no doubt. However, the product image would have been better if it were more realistic.
#2. – Outdoor Star String Lights
The PUHONG Christmas Outdoor Lights are one of the best star lights in our review. It comes with 320 LEDs in different colors that create a dazzling atmosphere around trees.
This product is made up of 9 strings measuring 11.5 ft. each. That length should be good enough for average-sized trees.
Like many of the other outdoor Christmas tree lights on our list, the Christmas tree light has 8 operation modes. So, you can use it like you 8 different lights.
This light comes with a remote control. So, you can adjust the lights without having to go the tree outside. The installation is pretty straightforward. However, it could do better on the water resistance front.
#3. – LED Icicle Christmas Lights
This product is one of the dreamiest decorations you can use on your tree. While its bulbs emit warm white light, the over 300 LED bulbs together can create a scenic display on your tree, especially if you lay them out skillfully.
These icicle lights measure around 19.6 ft. Ordinarily, this should be fine for the average outdoor tree. But then, depending on the size of your tree and the pattern you want to create, you may have to get the 33 or 66-feet variant.
On durability, the lights have an IP44 rating. While this is not the best among the products we reviewed, it is fair.
Of the two icicle lights we reviewed, this has more drops than the other (54 drops against 8 drops). The high number of drops alongside the overall length makes decoration seamless.
This product is pretty decent, but it could do better on the water resistance front.
#4. – Twinkle Star LED Fairy String Lights
At 66 feet, the Twinkle Star LED lights are the longest lights in this review. Beyond being the longest, they are the most flexible; you can use them to decorate your tree in various ways.
Like the PUHONG lights, it comes in different colors, creating a dazzling atmosphere on trees. Of course, you can use it on other outdoor areas like porches, roofs, gardens, and bushes. This contributes to the flexibility we mentioned earlier.
The Twinkle Star has 8 operation modes: slow glow, sequential, combination, steady, on, and 4 others. So, it isn’t just another boring Christmas light. It also comes with a remote control, so you never have to go outside your house to control the lights.
While an IP44 rating is not awful, we believe outdoor Christmas lights of this quality would fair better if the IP rating were higher.
#5. – Solar Rope Light
If you are looking to decorate the trunk of your tree, this rope light would be perfect. Measuring 33 ft., you get enough of it to wound around the trunk of your tree at least once.
The solar rope light is not only good for your tree trunk; you may also use it on your porch, patio, balcony, garden, and other outdoor areas. You may also use it indoors.
One of the most unique advantages of this product over typical Christmas lights is its solar feature. You can light these up off-grid. So, if you are worried about accumulating huge energy bills, you should consider this.
This rope light emits warm white light, which is great for creating a cozy atmosphere. So, beyond Christmas, this may come in handy when having outdoor events at night.
This tree trunk light does well on the durability front too. It has an IP65 rating which is sure to hold up well against intense outdoor moisture.
#6. – Christmas Snowflake Icicle Lights
While the Minetom Christmas Snowflake Icicle Lights are classified as icicle lights, they have a snowflake design that sets them apart from the typical icicle lights. So, if you are looking for something unique, check this out.
Compared to the other icicle lights in this review, it has 8 drops and 80 LEDs. It also measures just around 7 ft. in length. So, you may have to buy multiple units to get the same level of decoration. The good news is you can readily extend a single unit by adding 2 to 3 extensions.
You may use these snowflake lights on the branches of your outdoor trees. But that is not the only spot they can be useful. You may also use them in your garden, patio, fence, balcony, and even backyard.
The snowflake lights come with a remote control. This makes it easy to adjust the lights without having to reach them physically. But then, it will be even more laudable if the product image was more realistic.
#7. – Firework Lights
If you are looking to decorate your tree in a super unique way, these firework lights might just do it. They are not the typical types of Christmas lights. So, you can be almost sure that your décor will be different from what anyone else will do.
Each firework light in the pack is made up of 120 LEDs that emit warm white light. So, if you ever need to create a cozy atmosphere indoors or outdoors, this will be perfect.
With an IP67 rating, they have the best water resistance of all the lights in this review. It comes with a remote control and is powered by batteries. So, moving it around is pretty easy. But you will have to spend on batteries.
